I’m still something of a newbie when it comes to dressing well, so when I found out that I was going on a beach vacation, I wanted to check around for resources that explained what I should expect, and what to pack. As someone who lives in the desert, near to a mecca of this kind of resort lifestyle, Palm Springs, I try to integrate this kind of thinking into my personal style - needless to say, I’ve been looking forward for the opportunity to wear resort wear in an actual resort! In a world where clothes are becoming less and less formal, resort wear offers a occasion for people who want to dress up, but may be turned off by the fussiness and buttoned-up nature of the business world. It’s about doing mostly nothing, but as stylishly as possible. Whether you’re going on a honeymoon, a destination wedding, or just some plain old R ’n R, a beach resort is one of those damn near timeless experiences that offer opportunities for us to dress with a kind of eccentric comfort and dressed-down elegance that is difficult to get away with in the real world. EDIT: the folks over at r/ffacj have done a pretty good job roasting me for this post - you should check it out, it’s really funny (at least it was to me, once I got over the initial butt-hurt)!
